Hodgepodge 102/365 - Manhattan Transfer + Take 6

This evening we went to see a couple of groups we've had in our collection for decades but had never seen—and here they were performing a "summit," together: Manhattan Transfer (45 years together) and Take 6 (37 years). Ten of the most fabulously blending voices there are. They had a great time performing both separately and together. I was glad to hear some of my favorites, including "Mary Don't You Weep" (performed tonight by the Transfer as a tribute)—

and the iconic "Birdland" (originally a jazz fusion composition by Joe Zawinul of Weather Report, featured on their 1977 debut album, with lyrics added by Jon Hendricks of Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross)—

I've posted the best recordings here, which are audio only, but I have to say, it was scrumptious to watch them on stage—especially Take 6, which have their moves down. A thoroughly enjoyable evening! Now I'm going to dust off my old disks and play them again.
