Hodgepodge 277/365 - Lofoten

Yesterday was David's and my 36th/38th anniversary (36 of marriage, plus two years cohabitation, both initiated on August 1). By way of public celebration, he posted a photo of us on Facebook that has gotten a lot of love. It was taken five years ago in the Lofoten Islands of northern Norway.

It turns out David has a lot more photos of Lofoten on Flickr than I do. (Clearly I have some photo curating and posting to do . . .) I'm going to steal some of his for this post, to supplement a few of mine. It's a remarkably beautiful place. These pictures are just a small taste. (As always, click on the photos to see them large on black.)

The view from our lodgings
Views from our walks nearby (some of these taken at 11:30 p.m.:
we were above the Arctic Circle—no sunset)

Brothers-in-law Wayne and Geoff love to swim!
One day we took a hike to the hostel on the little lake.
(Unfortunately, the hostel was closed: bedbugs!)

Miniatures in the town at the far end of the islands, Å,
where we had a spectacularly expensive meal!
